The Challenges

Creating one end-to-end simple assessment platform

When I first started working on this project it was divided into several separated products which together created an end-to-end solution for academic exam assessment:Exam content creationOnline exam proctoring Assessment and gradingThis separation caused confusion and unclarity within the users regarding how and where to use the products in order to complete the process.

Defining the primary job roles

Another challenge was the fact that there was no interface differentiation per role. There are 2 main roles in the system:Lecturer – who creates the exams, gives pedagogic response to student during online exam, assesses and publishes grades. Exam department – an administrative role. They conduct and monitor the exam life cycle, permissions, proctoring etc.’

The Research

User persona &User flow

For the new product version we designed a clearer workflow, with different sections for different users. This ensured easy use and consumer retention.

The Results

For the new product version, I have designed a clearer workflow with different sections tailored to different users. This approach ensures easy use and promotes consumer retention.
My solution was to create a unified system with clear and intuitive navigation. The dedicated exam department interface features a side navigation bar that allows them to conduct the entire life cycle of exams with ease. On the lecturer side, a linear navigation guides them in completing their role within the process.
The primary screen showcases all of the lecturer's related exams, categorized by status or course, with filtering options and a quick access button for creating new exams.
The new version of Tomavix is divided into five main areas:

exam Setting

The user can define different types of exams based on their specific requirements, such as multiple-choice, essay-based, or practical assessments.Roles and Permissions: Users can assign different roles and permissions to individuals or groups, granting them specific access rights and responsibilities within the system. This ensures proper control and security measures.

Exam Content Creation

During the phase of creating or importing exam questions in Tomavix, users have the ability to perform various actions on both multiple questions or groups as well as on individual questions. Here are some examples:Actions for Multiple Questions or Groups:Bulk Editing: Users can perform bulk editing actions on multiple questions or a group of questions simultaneously. This includes updating attributes such as question text, options, difficulty level, or scoring criteria.Grouping and Categorizations: Users can organize questions into groups or categories for better management and navigation. This allows for easier selection, modification, or analysis of specific question sets and scoring pxw1waarameters:

This area allows analysts to explore the ecosystem in depth, enabling interactive analytics and chart generation according to use cases that answer specific business questions. In Analysis, users can: Filter – filtering can be done by solution type and geography, helping the analyst be specific in their research. Create and Read Findings – users can create new insights, which appear in the chart section and are available for colleagues to view.

Montitoring

Maintaining the exam’s integrity is pivotal to any self-respecting academic institution. It ensures the quality of learning and assessment of students.
